Daily Ramblings

Excuse me. Excuse me, Linda.

Easter at the SC family house is an interesting, if not entertaining event. The morning was spent coloring and playing the Yamaha keyboard and being held captive by 10 yr old HC. HC would not let me leave the play room and I had to sneak out and hide behind the puppy.

Lunch was especially funny. Nine year old JC was so excited about the meal, that she sat quietly at the table with her hands folded for about half an hour before we were even ready to eat.

When it was finally time to eat, SC sat on one side of me, while HC sat on the other. HC kept saying "Excuse me. Excuse me Linda. Are you eating?"

SC was the buffer between me and JC. JC was ecstatic and she giggled between bites and waved her hands through the air. She was so damn happy to be eating. It was pretty cute.

While the rest of us were eating, eight year old RC stayed in the den and engaged in extreme OCD behavior. She was watching a Barney video that she kept rewinding and playing over and over again. So, for the duration of the meal, we heard the same song lines played over and over and over again.

The funny thing was that no one else really noticed this until I pointed it out. Crazy, huh. I guess when you live with three kids with downs syndrome, you barely notice these things. Mr. and Mrs. SC are pretty hardcore.
